Very poor wifi reception (if any) in the remoter rooms

Needed an overnight stay close to a party we were attending and this was the perfect choice. Excellent value for money including breakfast in the room rate. The room was extremely well appointed with tea/coffee making and clean - comfy bed and spotless bathroom with good selection of toiletries. Delicious breakfast with good quality ingredients and good selection of food.

Unfortunately there was a function on in the marquee which disturbed us a little and could possibility be an issue in the summer months. The rooms are single storey set around the garden so very close to the marquee facilities.

Friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast. Door of room with direct access to outside walkway. Lovely gardens. Would recommend because of these points, and previous stays.

Bathroom in poor state of repair: broken bath panel with sharp pieces exposed, toilet seat loose, in poor condition and with parts missing; basin hot tap difficult to use and loose. No restaurant on Sunday evenings. Wedding function on our Sunday evening led to reception and bar being closed as well. Felt this made it appear we were partially neglected, second class guests.

Location good and quiet. Accomodation very good and pleasant. Everything is of high quality. Breakfasts very good indeed although a vegetarian option (I.E. perhaps veggie sausages) would have been good. Room booked was double - not twin as shown below.

Good food, comfortable and clean rooms and very friendly staff. Nice small scale.

Rooms were quite dated and the double room we had was fairly small and a bit dark, but it was very comfortable and clean. Evening events both nights of our stay, which were quite noisey.

very helpful staff, very quiet, very private, very clean, great breakfast, close to railway.

not enough space to meet friends or have lunch when the restaurant is fully booked.

The rooms were arranged as 'lodges' around the grounds, amongst gardens, so you get a lot more privacy, space and 'home' feel than in other hotels. The staff were friendly and helpful. The linen was high quality cotton, and the bed comfortable. The restaurant was good and offered dishes such as steak with thick cut chips (well presented, catering quality steak) and breast of chicken with a cream sauce . Breakfast was good. Comparing notes with the other delegates, I was in the best hotel.

If I had been offered whole milk and a choice of streaky bacon, I would have been very happy! Would still recommend this hotel.

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, nice extra touches - I pod docking & sky sports!! Lovely full english breakfast was cooked to order. Would certainly stay here again.

Excellent rooms and the reception I recieved was very nice. The two meals I had, evening meal and breakfast were both superb.

      • Group of friends
        7.0

The room was good and clean and most comfortable.

The restaurant was extortionately overpriced for the food on offer, (£16.50 for a Shepherds Pie!) and the bar prices were also unjustifiably high (£4 for a bottle of ale). Do not use their bar or restaurant. Plenty of good pubs locally that are cheaper and better. Also the Wi Fi was not functioning despite complaining and a promise that it would be fixed.

      • Older travelers
        9.2

The rooms were like little cottages so it is like stepping outside your own front door rather than into a hallway/corridor with wall to wall doors. As we were smokers, we could just sit outside our 'room' to smoke rather than do a tour of a building to find an exit. We could park our car right outside our room, reassuring because most hotels have a communal carpark sometimes at a distance, and we like to be able to keep an eye on our car. Very spacious and comfortable room with usual ameneties plus sky tv on good sized lcd screen and an ipod docking station, and we just had the standard accommodation! Fantastic value for money and would stay here again and recommend it to others.

No evening meals on sundays, which was a pain for us as we checked in on a sunday and had to drive around to find somewhere to eat before we could settle properly in our room. Also, reception closes early so we had no one to answer any queries, like where is the nearest place to go to eat, info on the area etc.

I liked the location it was close to my business and so I didn't have to drive in Friday evening traffic. The staff were friendly in a reserved bored way. The food was great but expensive as was my whole experience. For half price I would have raved about the whole thing from start to finish.

        Cost only downside.

We booked this hotel due to its location to train station, and were so pleased when we arrived, it is so friendly, relaxing, and beutifully presented. Would defo go back. Chef is fantastic cook.

Very very small bar area, but did not use it so it made no difference to us.

The excellent quality of the breakfast. Their muesli was some of the best I've eaten and the cooked breakfast set you up for the rest of the day. All served by attentive staff. The closeness to open countryside and the canal for an evening walk was great. The hotels lawns which all the rooms overlooked were immaculate.
